I’m Asian American, born and raised in this country, pay all my taxes, especially kind in nature, very respectful, and a pretty fantastic human. You don’t know where people may have got them from? Well, looks like the employees carry out a number of responsibilities from entry, to managing the floor and the counters. Just a bunch of folks that asked for ice with their coffee, turns out, info that was probably known and could’ve been shared instead of saying they didn’t know where they came from in the same plastic cups and lids. Being told they didn’t have something but seeing a number of people carrying iced coffee more than an hour after boarding and being told maybe the other counter would have it but they weren’t sure. Met with nothing, no acknowledgement just a plain stare, and allowing me to wait at the counter for service with no rush and some reluctance in attending to me, but with friendly interaction with the other patrons that walked up after or previously. I found most of the staff to be cold towards me even when politely saying hello, or have a good day. I am posting this everywhere I can now.įrankly, a number of staff members were short and passively rude towards me. That tells me I was right and they don’t care. It’s been over a month since I posted this with no response from the company on Google reviews while they’ve responded to other reviews. The crew should ACTIVELY WORK to ensure seating for everyone and booths meant for 5 are not occupied by 2 or 3. I watched a couple tell people the extra seats were taken, but no one showed up. They makes an announcement about "making friends" by sharing booths, but that is largely ignored, nor did the crew make any efforts to rectify it. This causes seating issues when the ship is full. The signs say 5 people per booth, but people reserve them with 2 or 3 people per booth. There are booths around the outside of the ship and are taken first. This trip could be improved, though, with assigned seating. If you plan on spending a day or 2 you could take the ferry, or drive and pay to park in Key West, which is expensive. We could not have gone by car and done that.īut that being said, I don't recommend doing it in one day as it's an expensive way to spend 4.5 hours in Key West. If you arrive late your choice of seating is severely limited. It's 4 hours dock to dock plus arriving an hour early. On the way back, we left at 5:45 and offloaded at about 9:40. The boat left Ft Myers at 7:45 and we offloaded in Key West at about noon. As others have said you need to arrive an hour early to get a good seat. You should be aware that if you try to do this in 1 day, your time in Key West is short. This is really the only way to get from Fort Myers to Key West, and back, in one day. When we were waiting to board the boat to come home there was a large room that was air-conditioned and empty with over 100 chairs in it but they wouldn’t let anyone wait in there. The personnel inside said it was owned by the city and would not allow us to sit down to wait for the boat to board. We will take the trip again for the convenience of the boat ride and the expected time to be there and the wait is not a big deal when you’re booking transportation. They got enough tip money out of us so I thought that was inappropriate. It was kind of upsetting to see a crewmember standing at the end of the plank as we De-boarded with a big bucket that said tips on it. 4) we were tipping constantly after getting food or drink throughout the journey. There were people walking all over the boat unmasked. Everyone around us was complaining about this.3) they talk frequently about making sure you wear a mask when you get out of your seat and walk around. There’s just no reason why the boat should be kept that cold and people should freeze for 3 1/2 hours. You could buy a blanket for $25 in the gift shop and if you brought luggage on they wouldn’t allow you to go in it to get warmer clothes. 2) The temperature inside the board on our return home after a long weekend in the sun was close to 65°. It should be similar to an airplane where you get periodic updates. For example we just passed Marco Island or we have about another hour and a half to go. 1) The captain or crew should give updates throughout the ride. I was expecting it to be right here but a very smooth ride and great weather. We just returned from a weekend in Key West via the Key West express.
